Our workshop has a room dedicated to silvering and to put under vacuum adiabatic parts.

The silver-plating process is basically a silver precipitation on the glass (silver nitrate redox) within a sealable glass vessel.

After this operation, the silvered vessel is assembled on a vacuum pump to put under high vacuum (10-6 mbar) and finally the vessel is flame sealed.

The vacuumed silver-plated jacket improves the insulation of the vessel from the thermal exchanges (vacuum) and from infrared rays (silver plated mirror effect).

We are also able to establish a “window” (narrow opening without silver) to be able to see inside the silvered vessel.

The silvered glassware (column, column head, …) is oftenly repairable but the vacuum and silver must be removed before repair and replace after.
